Parts are sometimes too large to be cost effectively shipped out for repair, or it may simply cost to many labor hours or down-time hours to disassemble equipment for in-shop repairs. This is where Prime machines mobile machining division comes into play. There are many machining operations that can be performed at the job-site or at a vendors facility.

Prime Machine has custom built machines for many applications where there was not an established method. We also offer industry standard in-place machining services.

LARGE portable lathe being set-up to
machine a screening drum in Canada

We manufactured a large scale lathe to machine the ends on this Ball Mill shell.

The Drum is 20' in Diameter and over 60' in length.

Our laser tracker was used to align the two lathe bearing supports so that they are co-linear

Spiders are installed on the inside to support the drum and provide a point of rotation.

The drum was then lifted into place.

The man in the Bosons chair is using the Laser Tracker to align the
drum to the axis of rotation of the lathe.

    Making the "cut".

The assembled lathe and the "3D Model" of the lathe and drum.

A CAD model was created so that we could "fit" the lathe and the spiders
to the drum here in Utah before traveling to Canada.
